Challenges are plenty but outcome is always one – Learning!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

While trying to troubleshoot an inhouse application I had to setup a quick MySQL instance which led me to install my first instance of MariaDB on my local MAC machine.<\/p>\n

BREW is my poison. You need to open a terminal and issue<\/p>\n

brew install mariadb<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It helped me get the binaries on my system.<\/p>\n

The challenge shifted from getting the binaries to starting the server.<\/p>\n

brew services –help<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It lists out the commands you can utilize to start stop and list all the services running at that moment.<\/p>\n

To start your MYSQL Daemon you just need to issue<\/p>\n

brew services start mariadb<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And to validate the status you can issue<\/p>\n

brew services list<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It should give an output like under<\/p>\n

Time to login<\/p>\n

sudo mysql -u root<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

If you issue the command without sudo you wont be able to, as by default the root has no password for the local installation.<\/p>\n

You can set the password using<\/p>\n

SET Password=PASSWORD(‘mypassword’)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

You can validate the output by issuing<\/p>\n

select host, user, authentication_string, password from mysql.user;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
